What is Tangible Hydra-PEG?

THP is a 90% water coating designed to fill the microscopic pits inherent in contact lens materials and build up into a lubricious, wettable layer that encapsulates the lens. The coating shields the tear film from the hydrophobic lens material so that the only thing exposed to the eye is a surface that closely matches the eye’s natural environment.

THP is a coating that is bonded to custom contact lenses designed to solve discomfort and dry eye by:

  • Improving wettability
  • Increasing lens surface water retention
  • Minimizing deposits and lens fogging
  • Increasing lubricity
Intended for:
  • Dry eye sufferers
  • Patients with comfort issues
  • Patients adapting to corneal lenses
  • Heavy depositors
  • Patients with scleral fogging
  • Patients with compromised tear film

Available materials for THP Coating:

  • Optimum Comfort / Extra / Extreme / Infinite
  • Hexa 100
  • Boston ES / EO / XO / XO2

Care Tips for treated Tangible Hydra-PEG coated lenses:

  • CAREFUL! Lenses are slippery! Plug your drain to avoid losing your lenses.
  • Do not use tap water. Only use buffered, preservative-free sterile saline solution to rinse your lenses.
  • Do not use enzymatic, abrasive or alcohol-based cleaners. They may damage the Tangible Hydra-PEG coating.
  • Always follow the solution and lens care recommendations provided by your eye care practitioner.
